The first stories of our family that we remember today and have in mind date back to the second half of the 19th century. Years of hard work and labor on the land to obtain food and daily bread, with simple manual farming tools, a lot of dedication and patience.
Our great-grandfather, Luis Trinitario Comins, a strong, disciplined and dictatorial man, worked the land with his son Joaquin, 12 years old, in 1945, to teach him from a very young age how to earn a living in Almazora, in the years of the post-war period (Civil War, 1936-1939). Every day of their lives, they went to the fields to work from dawn to dusk and teach us and our father the trade of agriculture.
Many years of effort and sacrifices reached their turning point, for the physical rest of many farmers in the Province of Castellón. Thus, in the 1960s, convinced of the benefits of production and rest, our grandfather Joaquin began conventional cultivation using fertilizers, phytosanitary products and pesticides, unaware of the collateral damage produced by the chemical substances of the new products for cultivation.
Our grandparents lived and raised their families with agriculture and left their legacy and inheritance to our parents, who were beginning to see that working in the fields was not the best way to make a living, in the years of greatest growth in Spain, to all levels. The decision to distance oneself from work on the land made possible the normalization of the use of chemical products in the fields and consequently the increase and prevalence of health problems, such as the cases of cancer from the 90s.
Sufferers of collateral damage, inappropriate and excessive use of chemical products; In 2015, the Comins brothers, unfortunately acquired, through family inheritance, the fields of our maternal family. At 7, 22 and 24 years old, we had to decide between selling and forgetting about the field or resuming the action of our past generations.
P. Comins, the middle brother and president of the club, persevering, motivating and hard-working, decided to take action, taking the reins and the responsibility of taking care of the family fields, giving a complete change to the direction of the cultivation process of the trees fruit trees and the land in general. A brave and risky bet to transform agricultural exploitation to organic production in 2020.
To date, after many efforts and sacrifices, the Comins brothers' farms enjoy the quality seal and ecological certificate of the Organic Agriculture Committee of the Valencian Community. Getting fertile lands, free of chemical contaminants. Being one of the few national farmers, with true organic production.
We say true, because nowadays, everyone knows that organic products have become a trend, which everyone wants to join. All people are convinced that organic products are better, which is why demand increases.
However, the reality is very different. Raising our voice, if you allow us, to give clarity to the situation Today and from our experience, we want you to understand that large-scale production of organic products is not viable. It is not possible that the same variety and quality of orange, tangerine or lemon (to give examples of fruits) can be found in the main supermarket chains throughout Europe and also be organic, because it is a lie.
If there are practically no people who want to work the land, the young people in the social networks, the world is hooked on sports and the love of travel. Can you explain to me how you can believe that the fruits, vegetables or other products you buy in a large store are truly organic?
Organic citrus farming is a current trend, which was already being worked on approximately 80 years ago. And it is hard work, which does not always give the same productive results. Production is limited and it is difficult to sustain labor and economically speaking. A lot of help and policies are needed in favor of farmers, which do not exist. Aid only reaches large companies that claim to the authorities that they can supply the world's population, encouraging social control, the illogical import-export of products and the dubious labeling and production of the products for sale.
As an alternative to current commercialization and contributing our know-how, for people who know how to value good things, the Eco-Comins Club was born. We provide our members with real, natural, organic and deceptive food, in limited quantities, for those who know how to appreciate the luxury of a real product. Because fashion and luxury is not eating organic, it is knowing a responsible and committed farmer.
We have selected 6 of the best products from our land, thanks to family businesses and collaborating partners in the province of Castellón. Furthermore, to promote environmentalism and respect for the environment in which we live, we have launched the proposal to sponsor - plant a tree on our farms, creating Eco-Comins, a private, environmental and cultural club.
We wait for you.
